It is the decoder for the large-scale panels that run the RGBW strips and fittings, and the electrical set is identical to the 5-channel RGBWW decoder beside it in the range — the white channels merged into one.

The four channels

The output is RGBW — the RGB channels carry the colour mix, and the white channel carries the white independently at 6 amps. The output is constant-voltage PWM, so the strip and the fittings on the far side run at the voltage the supply delivers. The 4-channel set is the one the RGBW strips and the colour-plus-white fittings are wired for, and the decode keeps the four channels on four consecutive DMX addresses.

4096 grey levels per channel

Each channel decodes at 4096 levels, which is the resolution the smooth dimming needs: the fades run without the stepping the 8-bit decoders show at the low end, and the slow scene changes read clean on camera. The Highlights call it smooth, soft dimming, and the 4096-level decode is the number behind it.

DIN rail, terminal block, master or slave

The mounting is the DIN rail that clicks into the distribution board — the install the large-scale projects run, with the decoders lined in the panel per zone. The DMX512/1990 line lands on the terminal block, and the controller runs as master or slave on the line: master for the standalone setups, slave for the desks and the main controllers. The four channels take four consecutive DMX addresses.

Working envelope

Working temperature spans -20°C to +55°C, which covers the plant rooms, the ceiling voids and the distribution boards the decoders actually live in. The body is L111×W46×H66mm at 135g — the same envelope as the CD264 and the CD266, so a mixed family panel keeps a single rail layout. The decoder is the panel-mounted unit the DIN rail carries without a shelf or a bracket.

Où est-il utilisé ?

The large-scale architectural installs, where the decoders line up in the distribution boards and the RGBW strips run the colour and the white from one decoder per zone. Hotels and façades, where the dual-white fittings dim and shift on the 4096-level decode. Stage and studio rigs, where the CV strips decode as slave to the desk. And the retail and display installations, where the 4096-level decode drives the slow, camera-visible fades the display lighting runs.

Planning the panel

Work the load per decoder against the strip: at 24V the decoder carries 576 watts before the ceiling, and the 12V builds carry 288. Leave headroom below the 6-amp rating on each channel rather than loading to it. Size the PSU for the connected load plus margin, land the DMX in and out on the terminal block, and give each decoder its start address. Split the large façades across several decoders per zone; the daisy-chain carries the line between them.

Choosing the decoder in the range

The DMX decoder family splits by channel count and connection: the CD267 is this 4-channel RGBW decoder on the DIN rail; the CD268 is the 5-channel RGBWW for the dual-white fittings; the CD269 series runs 24 and 32 channels for the multi-zone panels; the CD265 is the single-channel decoder at 10 amps for the monochromatic zones; and the CD206-4 is the standalone RGBW decoder with the XLR-3, RJ45 and terminal connections for the rigs. The choice is the channel count the zone needs — the 4096-level decode, the DIN rail and the master-or-slave logic are the same across the range.

The FEL-CD267 is the 4-channel DMX decoder for the DIN rail: RGBW output (red, green, blue, white) at 6 amps per channel, 4096 grey levels per channel, running on DC12-24V and delivering 288W at 12V or 576W at 24V.
