It is the pick for car parks, warehouses, loading bays and utility spaces, places where an ordinary bulkhead ends up cracked. The die-cast aluminium body gives it the structural strength, and the IK10-rated polycarbonate lens is what keeps it whole after things get dropped or wheeled into it.

Why the IK10 matters

IK10 is the highest of the standard IEC 62262 impact ratings, and that is the point of this fixture. Most bulkheads in this size range stop at IK08 or IK09; this one goes to the top of the scale, so the lens shrugs off the hits that would crack a lesser unit. The difference shows up in a car park, where a trolley or a dropped case finds the fixture, or in a warehouse aisle where a forklift swings wide. Spec it where the fixture takes knocks and you want the diffuser to be the last thing you have to think about.

Two outputs, one housing

It is offered at 20W and 30W on the same 300×300×90mm enclosure. The 20W version gives 2200 lumens at 110 lumens per watt, and the 30W steps up the output at the same efficacy. Because the housing and the mounting pattern do not change between the two, you can specify the lower output for a tight corridor and the higher one for a wider bay, and the install is identical. Colour temperature is set at the bench: it is a 3CCT build, so you choose 2800K warm white, 4000K neutral or 6500K cool white before the housing is closed.

Build and mounting

The housing is die-cast aluminium, finished in white or black. The polycarbonate lens is anti-UV, so it does not yellow with age, and it is gasketed to hold the IP65 seal when the fixture is closed. The driver sits inside the body, sealed, so there is no external ballast or power box to mount. It is a surface mount: the back plate carries fixing points for a flat ceiling or wall, and wiring goes direct to the mains through the internal terminal block. It is a Class I fixture, so the circuit needs a protective earth.

Control

The base unit is a standard on/off fixture. It switches with the circuit, a wall switch, a sensor or a timer, and it does not dim. That is deliberate. The control functions are kept on separate SKUs, so where a project wants DALI dimming, motion sensing or a photocell, the wall-packed and emergency variants of the same series carry those, and the two are specified together rather than confused.

What is in the box

Each unit ships as a single fixture with the driver already wired in, the mounting hardware in the box, and the terminal block ready to connect. The anti-UV lens is fitted at the factory and should stay in place after install. Nothing else is packed inside, so it is ready to wire straight to the supply.

What you need to supply

You need the fixings for the ceiling or wall mount and a protected circuit with a protective earth. For an outdoor or wet-location install, check the mounting spot sits within the IP65 zone and that the seal stays closed. A screwdriver and wire strippers cover the job.

Where it gets used

It is built for the outside of commercial and institutional buildings, or the rough parts of the inside. Car parks and undercrofts take the IK10 lens and the IP65 seal, so the fixture survives vehicle doors, trolleys and rain runoff. Warehouse aisles and storage use it overhead where forklifts swing wide. Loading bays, service corridors and covered walkways use the wide beam and the two outputs to cover both tight and open areas from one product. One SKU also lets a project run a warm white at the entrance and a cooler white at the rear service door.

Certifications and warranty

The ILED-BH-S20W carries SAA for Australia and New Zealand, CE for Europe, and RoHS. The warranty runs from three to five years, depending on the region and distributor terms. The sealed body and gasketed lens mean you do not open the unit; a wipe of the diffuser face keeps it looking right.

The ILED-BH-S20W is a square 300×300mm exterior bulkhead light for ceilings and walls where weather and knocks are a daily fact.
