The COB-512 delivers 512 COB LED positions per metre on a 10 mm PCB — higher density than the COB-480 (480 LEDs/m) — producing a brighter, more uniform white line with no visible LED dots. The COB manufacturing process eliminates the gaps between discrete SMD packages that cause banding and hot spots on standard strips.

How does the COB-512 differ from the COB-480?
The COB-512 has 512 LEDs/m at 12 W/m delivering 1200 lm/m, while the COB-480 (13923/13942) has 480 LEDs/m at 9-10 W/m delivering approximately 900-1000 lm/m. Both share the same 10 mm width and dotless COB technology. The COB-512 offers slightly higher brightness and LED density at a moderate power increase — choose the COB-512 for brighter runs and the COB-480 for lower-power or shorter installations.

How does the COB-512 compare to the COB-608 DW?
The COB-608 DW (13921) has 608 LEDs/m, runs at 20 W/m, and features two independent white channels (3000K + 6000K) requiring a dual-channel controller. The COB-512 has 512 LEDs/m, runs at 12 W/m, and uses a single white channel. The COB-608 DW is brighter but draws more power and needs a more complex controller. Choose the COB-512 for simpler installations and lower-power applications.

How does the COB-512 differ from the COB-840 RGB?
The COB-840 RGB (13929) produces RGB colour (red, green, blue) for dynamic colour effects; the COB-512 produces only neutral white light (2700K-6000K). They share the same 10 mm COB platform but serve different purposes. If you need colour-changing effects, choose the RGB model. If you need uniform white illumination, choose the COB-512.

Which IP rating should I choose?
IP42 for dry indoor installations (ceiling coves, under-cabinet). IP65 for covered outdoor use (soffits, sheltered eaves). IP67 for outdoor areas exposed to rain. IP68 for wet environments or submersion. Do not mix IP ratings on the same run — each variant has a different silicone coating.

Can the COB-512 be cut to custom lengths?
Yes. The COB-512 cuts at 62.5 mm intervals — this is the cut length for this specific variant. Always cut at the marked PCB points; cutting between marks breaks the circuit. The COB-480 (13942) cuts at 50 mm; the COB-480 (13923) offers both 25 mm and 50 mm; the COB-840 RGB (13929) cuts at 25 mm.

24VDC only. — Not compatible with 12VDC systems. Always pair with a 24VDC power supply rated for total current draw (approx. 0.5A/m at 12 W/m) with a 20% margin. Undersized power supplies cause dimming and shortened LED lifetime.

CRI >90 on all channels. — The COB-512’s single white channel meets CRI >90 across the 2700K-6000K range. This makes it suitable for colour-critical applications such as retail display, gallery lighting, and kitchen task areas where accurate colour rendering matters.

Cuts at 62.5 mm intervals. — This is the only cut length on the COB-512; always cut at marked PCB points. The COB-480 DW (13921) cuts at 50 mm; the COB-480 (13923) offers both 25 mm and 50 mm; the COB-840 RGB (13929) cuts at 25 mm. Never cut between marks — this breaks the circuit.

Standard roll length is 5 metres. — Custom lengths available on request. The 3M adhesive backing is standard in yellow; red backing is an option. The 15 cm input cable is standard — custom cable lengths can be specified at order time.
