What is the ILED-FX-5050 RGB LED Strip?
The ILED-FX-5050 RGB is a static colour RGB LED strip built around the proven 5050 SMD package — a 5.0 mm × 5.0 mm housing containing separate red, green, and blue LED chips. It produces dynamic colour effects by mixing these three channels at adjustable intensities. Unlike addressable strips such as WS2812B, the entire strip changes colour as a single unit. One controller manages the whole run, which keeps wiring simple and cost down.
Four Density Options
The FX-5050 RGB comes in four LED-density variants. The 30 LEDs/m model draws 7.2 W/m and is the most economical choice for long runs where absolute brightness is not critical. The 48 LEDs/m model sits at 11.5 W/m and offers a middle ground. The 60 LEDs/m model delivers 14.4 W/m for applications that need stronger colour output. The 120 LEDs/m model pushes 28.8 W/m and provides the brightest output, but it is 24VDC only and uses a wider 13.5 mm PCB.
All models share the same 120° beam angle and cut every 25 mm. Lower-density models use a 10 mm PCB; the 120 LEDs/m model uses 13.5 mm. Standard 5m rolls; custom lengths available.
Fabrication et installation
The strip is mounted on a flexible printed circuit with 3M adhesive backing. The standard backing is yellow 3M tape; red 3M tape is available as an option for applications where the colour of the adhesive matters. Copper traces run along the length of the PCB, and each cut point exposes solder pads for joining sections or attaching connector cables.
Installation is straightforward. Peel back the adhesive backing, position the strip, and press into place. Connect the 15 cm input cable to a compatible RGB controller and power supply. If multiple strips are joined end-to-end, use the appropriate connector or solder the copper pads and insulate with heat-shrink tubing. The 30/48/60 models accept either 12VDC or 24VDC input; the 120 LEDs/m model requires 24VDC.
IP rating options
Four IP ratings cover the range from dry indoor use to continuous underwater immersion. IP20 has no coating and is suited to protected indoor coves and shelving. IP65 adds a silicone cover that protects against water jets — suitable for covered outdoor areas such as fascia lighting and awning edges. IP67 allows temporary submersion and is used for pool and fountain installations. IP68 is rated for continuous submersion and is the choice for permanent underwater fixtures. Do not mix IP variants on the same run — the connector types differ and cannot be sealed together.
Controller compatibility
The ILED-FX-5050 RGB works with any standard 3-channel PWM RGB controller. The controller must match your strip voltage — 12VDC controllers work with the 30/48/60 models; 24VDC controllers are required for the 120 LEDs/m model. Most budget RGB controllers offer colour wheels, dimming, and basic scene presets. No DMX, ArtNet, or SPI protocol is needed — this is a simple plug-and-play RGB strip.

The ILED-FX-5050 RGB is rated for 50,000 hours of operation. At 12 hours per day of use, that works out to roughly 11.4 years before light output drops to 70% of initial brightness (L70 standard). The 5050 SMD package is a mature technology with established thermal management — the copper PCB acts as a heat spreader, and no active cooling is required. The limiting factor for lifespan is usually the adhesive losing grip or the silicone degrading under UV, not the LEDs themselves. Choose IP65 or above for outdoor use.
